Elder Jeffrey K. Goodson is a Philadelphia native, born to the late Deacon Nathaniel Goodson, Sr. and Mother Ruth Goodson. He was raised in a family of seven children, including five boys and two girls. Three of his brothers have also answered the call to pastoral leadership. Elder Goodson is married to Prophetess Barbara Ann Goodson, and together they are the proud parents of one son, Alex, and grandparents to four grandchildren.
Elder Goodson completed his secondary education within the Philadelphia Public School System, where he distinguished himself as a gifted basketball player, actively participating on local area teams. He later pursued theological education at The Midwest College of Biblical Studies, earning both a Bachelor of Arts degree and an Associate degree in Theology.
After accepting his call to ministry, Elder Goodson was licensed and ordained into the Church of God in Christ by the late Bishop O.T. Jones, Jr. In 1996, he stepped into pastoral leadership by founding Chosen Generation Church of God in Christ. The following year, the church became an official part of the Church of God in Christ denomination under the leadership of Bishop O.T. Jones, Jr., with mentorship from the late Dr. Leonard Lovett.
Pastor J.K. Goodson has faithfully served the Church of God in Christ in various leadership capacities. He previously served as Director of the Men’s Department for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Jurisdiction under Bishop Benjamin Ravenel, Prelate. He currently serves as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Keystone Jurisdiction under Prelate Bishop V.I. Prioleau. In addition, Pastor Goodson is a member of the COGIC Men’s Department Executive Board, serving under the leadership of Bishop Patrick Wooden and Bishop Rodrick Hennings.
An accomplished author, Elder Goodson has published six books, including Win the Men, Win the Men: A Thirty-Day Devotional, Authority Beyond Your Ability, The Pain That Push Me, Trees of God, and Journey with Jesus Through Lent. His ministry has also gained media attention through appearances on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), as well as interviews on The Gospel Highway 11 Radio Station and The Voice Radio Station 1714.
Under Elder Goodson’s leadership, Chosen Generation Church of God in Christ has been recognized three times by The Philadelphia Tribune as Church Ministry of the Week, in 1999, 2006, and 2014.
Pastor Goodson is widely known for his mission-focused approach to ministry. His work includes establishing a community food bank, facilitating Camp Summer Fun for economically challenged families, organizing clothing drives both locally and internationally, and leading leadership seminars and evangelistic workshops throughout Philadelphia and within the Pennsylvania Keystone Jurisdiction.
